Good News, Maybe: Credit Spending Is Up (The Atlantic Wire)

Date: Mon, 7. February 2011 22:30:43
The Atlantic Wire - The latest report from the Federal Reserve shows that consumers added $6.1 billion in credit card debt for December 2010. Filtering out seasonal bursts like the bump in holiday spending, the Fed's report shows that the December totals were not the result of a holiday shopping binge, and can be considered the first jump in credit card debt since 2008. Even more heartening to those holding their breath: the total far outstripped the $2.5 billion in credit card debts that analysts separately polled by The Wall Street Journal and Business Week had expected. As a final cause for bullish outlook, December 2010 marks the third month in a row that Americans eased back into putting purchases on their credit cards. Non-revolving credit, which includes debt for homes, student loans, and cars also rose, jumping 2.8 percent compared with last year.

Capital One Finally Reports Credit Limits@PFBlog.com: The Unique

Date: Fri, 16. May 2008 23:31:36
One of the chronic pains of being a Capital One credit card customer is that your credit score can suffer even if you pay your bills on time every time. The reason? Capital One has a long-time policy of NOT reporting your credit limit to credit reporting agencies. What it did is to report your actual credit usage as a proxy of your credit limit. How will this affect you? Even if you only tap into a small percentage of your credit limit, you will be seen by credit reporting agencies as using up all your credit lines (in Capital One cards), and that is certainly not good to your credit score.
